Evelyn Hofer was perhaps one of the greatest and most underrated photographers of our century. Being one of my personal favorite portrait makers, I was deeply saddened to learn of her death just a few days ago. Fortunately she left behind beautiful images to be remembered by.
Always simply composed but exquisitely seen, her photographs are timeless and so will she.
Her Steidl monograph is one of my favorite photo books and its definitely worth it if you really want to see some truly damn good portraiture. Image makers with such perfect subtlety don't come around often and she will surely be missed.
