This is very bizarre and I can't quite understand why, but the President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, gave a speech about photography. It's actually a very interesting "happening" (for lack of a better word). I'm not particularly interested in what he has to say, although I find it an acceptable speech with no particular red flags in regards to the medium. But I am very interested in the act of the Russian leader's determination to reach out to the people about such a specific subject. A subject that at the same time can be so abstract to most people who are in the art world (or even in the photography world). Hmmm... don't know why I find this fascinating and strange.
