LOOK 3 - Charlottesville Festival of the Photograph

Sylvia Plachy, Martin Parr and Gilles Peress will be the
featured legacy artists of 2009 at the Look 3 Charlottesville Festival of the Photograph. But we will also be welcoming to the Paramount Stage as part of our Masters Talks program: Callie Shell, Simon Bruty, Platon, George Steinmetz, and Yolanda Cuomo. These half-hour presentations will take you from inside Obama's journey to the White House, to the world of sports photography, to startling images from a small plane flying around the world, to one of the most creative design studios in New York, and finally into the mind of a master portraitist. Our lineup of gallery exhibitions is also shaping up into an exceptional program. In fact, we are very excited to announce that LOOK3 will host the North American debut of the 2009 World Press Photo exhibition. In addition, Pictures of the Year International will once again bring the annual POYi juried show to Charlottesville. Finally, our good friend James Nachtwey will be back again
to LOOK3 with his award winning exhibit on Extreme Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (XDRTB).

On April 15, ticket prices will increase, so purchase your Festival passes now at http://www.look3.org. And, the workshops are filling up quickly so don't hesitate if you are considering taking a course with Eugene Richards, Larry Fink, or Nina Berman. We have also just added a one-day Multimedia Storytelling workshop with MediaStorm to the program to complement the June 11 and June 12 Project Critique Sessions with Maggie Steber and Scott Thode.

Please keep in mind that the LOOK3 Festival is a non-profit arts organization and donations are an important source of revenue (especially in this economic climate.) We've added a new donate button on our tickets page (http://www.look3.org/2009/tickets.html) for those of you who are able to make a financial contribution of any kind. Please also consider upgrading or purchasing a BIG LOVE pass to support LOOK3 and get premium seating at all shows and entrance to the Artist Reception event.
