My friend Danielle Yurchinkonis is having an opening this Friday. Dani was the recipient of the Meyer Travel Fellowship last year and she traveled to Latvia and the Baltic Region to make images in connection with her family history and heritage. The show is really fantastic; the imagery is striking and heartfelt. Bold, hand-made frames (by Dani herself and her boyfriend Chad) outline each image, which are printed at about 30x40 inches on a semi-glossy surface and mounted. The photos display vibrant color and subject matter, photographed quite exquisitly to be honest; Dani has a great eye. Dani kept a very interesting blog during her travels, make sure to check it out.
This year's Meyer winner will be announced on Friday.
